Instructions for use

DRIED KAFFIR LIME LEAVES (MAKRUT LIME LEAVES)Kaffir lime leaves (or Makrut) are the secret to the unique, citrusy aroma of Thai and Southeast Asian dishes. They are essential for curries, soups, and broths.Usage:

  • In soups and broths: Add 3 to 5 whole leaves to your Tom Yum or noodle soup during cooking. The heat rehydrates the leaves and releases their intense fragrance.
  • In curries: Lightly crush the leaves between your fingers before adding them to your Green, Red, or Panang Curry to extract all their essential oils.
  • For steaming: Line the bottom of your steamer basket with leaves to delicately perfume your fish or chicken.

💡 Chef's Tips:

  • Rehydration: If you want to finely chop them to garnish your dishes, soak the leaves in warm water for 10 to 15 minutes beforehand.
  • Remove the vein: Remember to remove the central vein (the tough stem in the middle) if you plan to chop the leaves for consumption.

⚠️ Important Notes:

  • Do not consume whole: Like bay leaves, Kaffir lime leaves are tough. Remove them before serving or advise your guests not to eat them.
  • Storage: Store them in an airtight container, away from light and moisture, to preserve their green color and fragrance for several months.
