Mushrooms are often seen as a simple side dish.
A discreet, almost secondary ingredient.
And yet... when well cooked, they can become much more than that.
Today, we're offering you a recipe that changes everything:
stuffed King Oyster mushrooms, steamed, then topped with a slightly spicy sauce.
Ingredients (2–3 people)
- 3–4 King Oyster mushrooms
- 150g firm tofu
- 1 handful of dried black mushrooms
- 2 cloves of garlic
- Green onion
Stuffing:
- Tofu
- Black mushrooms
- Sesame oil
- Pepper
Spicy sauce:
- Garlic
- Sugar
- Chili sauce
- Water
Preparation
Gently hollow out the center of the mushrooms to form a cavity.
Finely chop the mushrooms, tofu, and black mushrooms, then mix with sesame oil and pepper.
The stuffing is already naturally flavorful and fragrant.

Cooking
1. Stuff the mushrooms
You can fill the mushrooms with a spoon, or use a piping bag for a cleaner finish.
2. Steaming
Lightly prick the mushrooms with a toothpick or fork to prevent them from bursting during cooking.
Arrange them on a plate and steam for 10 to 12 minutes.
3. Prepare the sauce
In a pan, sauté the garlic, then add the sugar, chili sauce, and a little water.
Heat for a few moments until you get a slightly coating sauce.
4. Finishing
Pour the sauce over the mushrooms.
Add green onion and a few sesame seeds.
Serve immediately.
Result
A dish that catches the eye... then surprises the taste buds:
- a melt-in-your-mouth and fragrant stuffing
- a juicy mushroom
- a slightly spicy sauce
Simple, but very effective.
