Sometimes the simplest dishes are also the most surprising.
With just a few ingredients, King Oyster mushrooms can become a rich-tasting dish, with an almost âmeatyâ texture and a glossy, slightly sweet, and fragrant sauce.
Today, we start with an easy version:
Pan-fried mushrooms with sesame oil
Ingredients (2â3 servings)
- 3â4 King Oyster mushrooms
- 2â3 cloves garlic
- Green onion
Sauce:
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tbsp sugar (or honey)
- 1 tbsp water
- Pepper
- 1 tbsp mirin (optional but recommended)
Preparation
1. Sear the mushrooms
Cut the mushrooms into thick pieces or tear them by hand.
Heat a pan without oil and cook them until they are lightly golden.
Set aside.

2. Prepare the sauce
In the same pan, add a little oil and sauté the garlic.
Then add the soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, water, pepper, and mirin.
Let the sauce reduce slightly.
Add the mushrooms and mix until they are well coated.

3. Finishing
Add the green onion and a few sesame seeds.
Turn off the heat and serve immediately.
Result
A simple, quick, yet incredibly flavorful dish:
