Ingredients
For the dough
- 200g rice flour
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 400ml cold water
- 200ml coconut milk
- 1/2 cup chopped chives
For the garnish
- 200g pork (you can replace it with shrimp or use both)
- 100g fresh shrimp
- 1 onion
- 100g of bean sprouts
- 1/2 cup chopped chives
- Seasonings: salt, pepper, fish sauce, sugar
For the sauce
- 3 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons of water
- Chopped garlic, chopped chili pepper
Preparation
Step 1: Preparing the dough
- Mix rice flour, turmeric powder and salt in a large bowl.
- Add cold water and coconut milk, mix well until the paste is completely dissolved.
- Add the chopped chives into the dough mixture, stir well.
Step 2: Preparing the filling
- Wash the pork, cut it into small pieces. Peel the shrimp, remove the head and tail, wash them well.
- Peel the onion and cut it into thin slices.
- Sauté the onions in a little oil until fragrant, then add the pork and shrimp, cook. Season with salt, pepper and fish sauce to taste.
Step 3: Cooking Bánh Xèo
- Heat a non-stick pan, add a little oil.
- Pour a little batter into the pan, tilt the pan to spread the batter in a thin layer.
- When the dough starts to firm up, add the pork and shrimp filling and a little bean sprouts on top.
- Cover and cook until the crepe is golden and crispy, fold it in half.

- Mix fish sauce, sugar, lemon juice and water, stir well until sugar is dissolved.
